Why do I feel tired all the time?

Many people complain of feeling tired all the time despite having slept for 7, 8, 9 hours or even longer. The problem is not the length of sleep, but the quality. You can sleep for as long as you want, but if your sleep is not replenishing then you will continue to feel tired all the time regardless. The key is to find out what is causing your sleep to not be effective and replenishing, and then find a solution to your problem.

The most likely reason for feeling tired all the time is having Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), a condition that causes you to momentarily stop breathing as a result of your airways closing up. These blockages, called apneas, cause your brain to wake up, open your airways up, and then you fall back to sleep instantly. Most people suffering from OSA do not even realize it is happening, despite the fact these apneas can occur up to 400 times a night.

Find out if OSA is causing you to feel tired all the time in under two weeks

If you do feel tired all the time, then it is highly advisable that you do a Sleep Study. This will examine your sleep patterns and will be able to tell you whether or not you have Sleep Apnea. Starting at £99, you will have your confirmation within a fortnight, you could be feeling your old self again within a few weeks.

The first thing to do would be to choose a Sleep Study. From there you are well on your way to hopefully finding that cause of you feeling tired all the time. If you get a positive confirmation, you can then look to start therapy for your Sleep Apnea, and if negative then you can narrow down the potential causes and get closer to finding a solution for your troubles.

How do I stop feeling tired all the time?

Once you have the result of your Sleep Study, if positive you can begin to use CPAP therapy to prevent your OSA disrupting your sleep. CPAP systems consist of a machine and a mask, which pump air into your airways to create pressure, which then prevents your airways collapsing. The result? Effective, reinvigorating sleep, that will allow you wake up refreshed and feeling your old self again.

Are there any other symptoms Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
