The in-home Finger Pulse Oximetry Sleep Study monitors your heart rate and blood oxygen levels throughout the night. In most cases, this alone is sufficient to identify Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. For those with a BMI under 25, or above 40, then a Multi-Channel Respiratory Study would be required instead.
  2. Multi-Channel Respiratory Sleep Study

Sleep Study FAQ (click to reveal the answer)

1) What does an in-home Sleep Study test for?

Our Sleep Study services are designed to detect Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, a sleep condition that is linked to heavy snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness. Sleep Apnoea is causing by the airway narrowing or closing completely, causing a momentary choking, disrupting sleep. Our sleep study services will help identify if this is happening to you and, if so, will allow you to explore treatment options to get sleeping soundly again.

2) Do your Sleep Studies help confirm insomnia, narcolepsy or any other sleep disorders?

Both of our sleep studies are able to confirm Obstructive Sleep Apnoea only; if you suspect your sleep problems are caused by a condition other than OSA then our sleep study services would not be right for you.

3) Which of your two Sleep Study options is right for me?

We have a page dedicated to helping you choose which Sleep Study is right for you, which you can find here.

4) How long does your Sleep Study process take?

You should receive your sleep study equipment within 48 hours of ordering. Once you have completed your sleep study and returned it, you should receive the results within 7-10 days. The whole process, from ordering your sleep study to receiving the results, typically take under two weeks. However this does require you to conduct and return the sleep study promptly once you have received it.

5) Who analyses the data from my Sleep Study?

All of our in-home Sleep Studies are conducted by NHS-trained sleep technicians with an least five years' experience of analysing sleep study data. Our of our sleep technicians are independent and are not employed, or incentivised by, Intus Healthcare. This means you can take a sleep study knowing that the results will be accurate and honest representations of your sleep.

6) Is there anything that would prevent me from doing an in-home Sleep Study?

If your BMI is below 18 or above 45 then we do not have an in-home Sleep Study that is suitable for you and we would recommend visiting your GP instead, who may be able to refer you to a Sleep Clinic for evaluation instead.

7) Do you an in-home Sleep Study for children?

No, all of our in-home Sleep Studies are for adults aged 18+ only.

8) Can I do a Sleep Study to prove I do not have Obstructive Sleep Apnoea?

If you wish to rule out Obstructive Sleep Apnoea then you will need to do the Multi-Channel Sleep Study. This is because the Finger Pulse Sleep Study is not able to rule out OSA - it can only rule it in. A negative Finger Pulse Sleep Study result does not necessarily mean you do not have OSA. However if you get a negative Multi-Channel Sleep Study result then it is very likely that you do not have Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.

9) What happens if my Sleep Study results confirms OSA?

If you get a positive Sleep Study result, then your results letter will explain your options from that point. Most people will choose one of two options; to purchase CPAP equipment from our sister site, www.EU-PAP.co.uk, or take their results to their GP to fast-track a referral to a sleep clinic.
